Poison Ivy, also known as Pamela Isley, is a prominent villain in the DC universe. Debuting in Batman #181 (June 1966), she is a botanist who becomes obsessed with plants after being experimented on.

The experiments, conducted by Dr. Jason Woodrue, infused Pamela with toxins, granting her immunity to all poisons and diseases. She also gains the ability to secrete toxins from her skin. Additionally, she becomes able to control plant life.

Driven by her transformation and resentment towards humanity's disregard for nature, Poison Ivy uses her powers to protect plant life. This often puts her at odds with Batman and other heroes of Gotham City.
